American children's author/illustrator, born in San Antonio, Texas in 1942. Marshall has written, co-written, and illustrated more than forty books for children, both under his own name and that of his pseudonym, Edward Marshall. He has also illustrated more than 25 books for others. Byrd Baylor Schweitzer was born in 1924 in San Antonio, Texas. She attended the University of Arizona. She is an author of books for children and adults. Several of her children's books have been cited as Caldecott Honor Books and she has won numerous other awards for her work. Her books are rooted in the American Southwest with that region's unique culture. She especially focuses on Native American culture and it's rapport with nature.
